Harold Pinter’s Nobel Prize…
Harold Pinter’s Nobel Prize acceptance speech is a heated indictment of the US. (doesn’t really get going until about halfway in.)
Unfortunately, though… is anybody listening?

Someone get this woman a Spin Doctor, stat.
Making fun of / being offended by Ann Coulter is kind of like shooting fish in a barrell, but this recent remark seem a little more vitriolic than usual:
<< One student asked what she would do if she had a child who came out as gay. Coulter replied: “I’d say, ‘Did I ever tell you you’re adopted?’” >>
Seriously, doesn’t this woman have a PR manager?! Ixnay on the ildchay abusehay, Ann. How about, “did I ever tell you you’re adopted? ‘Cuz adopted babies are the most special!”

Lots of eye candy over at Wooster Collective.
Drool! USB turntable converts your records to MP3s.
Ever notice how the prefix “USB” makes everything cooler?
Funniest. SPAM. Ever.

Tomorrow afternoon, I am driving with my jet-lagged family members (who will be recently arrived from Sweden) all the way to Northwest Pennsylvania for an impromptu Thanksgiving family reunion. When my Aunt caught wind that we were all planning to converge on her place for T-Day (the New Yorker and the Swedes being joined by the Iowans and the yinzers from Pittsburgh*) she decided that we would celebrate Christmas AND like, three people’s birthdays while we’re there. Crazy, I know.
Apparently my grandfather now has DSL so maybe I’ll manage to post some photos while I’m there.
*OK, they’re technically from outside Pittsburgh and would probably bristle at the suggestion that they say “y’uns,” but hey, tough.
More evidence that G.I. Joe is gay: Music thing: While we’re at it, here’s GI Joe playing a Theremin
I am trying to find a cool off-Broadway show to take my family to next week, but the pickins’ this time of year are, uhm, slim:

<< Menopause The Musical … chronicles the meeting of four women at a lingerie sale at Bloomingdale’s with nothing in common but a black lace bra and the many symptoms of menopause. Twenty-one re-lyriced songs from the sixties and seventies (“I Heard It Through the Grapevine, You’ll No Longer See 39,” “Stayin’ Awake,” etc.) comprise the score. The cast includes … a power professional, an aging soap opera star, an Iowa housewife, and a lost-in-the-sixties hippie. >>
The Astor Place Cube (officially known as “The Alamo,” wtf?) is back! It disappeared suddenly back in March with no explanation, but apparently it was out for repairs. It’s being unveiled right now (11am)
The man in the photo was guarding it; he was nice about my taking photos but didn’t want to chat about the cube.
I was in the Hamptons (the Hamptons, dahling!) a few months ago and saw a much smaller version of the same exact sculpture sitting next to somebody’s driveway! Wish I had had my camera on me that day.
Bored much? I am beginning to tire of my own blog. It doesn’t seem as if anyone’s reading it (at least, if they are they don’t leave comments) and most of my fun links come from BoingBoing anyway. I may just start putting random crap like this up here.
